"Moving Pictures":Artists' Films from the Film London Jar

Celebrating the spirit of experimentation and imagination, the UK's prestigious Jarman Award recognises artist film-makers living and working in Britain. The award-winners are artists whose work encompasses innovation, excellence and vision, whose risk-taking resists boundaries and conventional definition. The award enables the recipient to embark upon a period of experimentation in the absence of financial pressure.
"Moving Pictures" presents award-winning films by 20 artists including Ed Atkins, Emily Wardill, Luke Fowler and 2014 Turner Prize nominee James Richards. Also featured are 2014 Jarman Award nominees John Akomfrah, Laura Buckley and Stephen Sutcliff.
The programme comprises two screenings, each lasting around 70 minutes, and begins with a short film contextualising the Jarman Award and the moving image in the work of UK-based artists generally. There will be an interval for refreshments and discussion in between. As part of this year's celebrations to mark the tenth anniversary OCAT Shenzhen and the OCAT museum group, the "Moving Pictures" will be screened simultaneously in OCAT Xi'an, Shanghai and Shenzhen. Join us to watch with friends in any of these cities.
Moving Pictures: Artists' Films from the Film London Jarman Award is organised by OCAT Xi'an and Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate-General, as part of the 2015 UK-China Year of Cultural Exchange.
