Do Companies Needs Contemporary Art?
Can art become part of the developmental strategy of a company? Since 2011, Italian artist and curator Alessandro Rolandi has worked closely with Bernard Controls, a Beijing-based French company, to create an experimental art research project that has now become established as an internal department of the company. Under the name “Social Sensibility R&D Department”, in the past three years, a number of Chinese and foreign artists have realised various, highly original projects in the office and factory spaces of Bernard Controls. OCAT Xi’an invites the project facilitator Alessandro Rolandi together with participating artists and executives from Bernard Controls to discuss the benefits of introducing contemporary art to a long-term corporate strategy, the mutual enrichment of corporate culture and art practice as well as various opportunities and challenges that are encountered in the execution of the project.
